The International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)

Since 1950, Society for Science & the Public has provided an international stage for the world’s best and brightest young scientists through its International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world’s premier STEM competition. For more information click here.

What is Regeneron ISEF?

It's an international science fair! Every year, tens of millions of students in grades 9-12 participate in science fairs around the globe but only about 1,800 earn the right to compete for nearly $5 million in awards bestowed each May at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). In 2022, this fair will also take place in Atlanta with international participants joining virtually.

Terra Fairs are affiliated with the internationally-known STEM fairs ISEF and GENIUS Olympiad. Terra fully funds selected finalist projects and students from its affiliated and partner fairs to attend ISEF or GENIUS Olympiad for exceptional international and scientific experiences.

If you want to be considered for advancement to ISEF, you must follow ISEF rules and complete ISEF forms.  When you describe your project during registration, we will ask you questions about your planned research and recommend which forms should be submitted.   Based on those answers, you will  be asked to complete the appropriate Scientific Research Committee (SRC) forms.  Your sponsor (a teacher, parent or mentor) must review all of your procedures BEFORE you begins experimenting or building, to ensure the safety of both you and others. Sometimes additional adults sign forms using their specific expertise to make sure you and your subjects are safe. Those adults’ signatures and dates prove that evaluation was completed.

Since SRC process exists to ensure both your and others safety, the SRC has to approve the project before the research begins, so it’s vital to submit these forms as soon as possible.

Students competing in the Junior Division are not eligible for advancement to Regeneron ISEF.
